Training our Members for the Future

Chief and Council are always finding appropriate training programs to be initialized in order to prepare band members of Binwi Neyaashi for up and coming job opportunities in the region. In all cases, BNA and its training partners have always ensured that all necessary supports for the trainees – training allowances, accommodation, and travel- were taken into consideration. The following courses were some of the major training programs that were put on during the last 4 years:

Anishinaabek Employment and Training Services

Bingwi Neyaashi joined Anishinaabek Employment and Training Services (AETS) in 2012. In so doing, it joined 8 other First Nation communities from across the Robinson Superior Treaty – AZA, BZA, RRIB, KZA, Pay Plat, Michipicoten, Pic River and Pic Mobert First Nations – in one of the most successful Indigenous training organization in the Province. Along with regular referrals for members who require training assistance, AETS applies to outside funding organizations to put on numerous training indicatives for the members of the 9 First Nations including BNA. Because of the amazing staff at AETS and their diligent seeking of funding outside of the core dollars appropriated by the Federal Government, AETS has been actively lobbying to become its own “ASETA’ agreement holder, whereby they will have a direct agreement with Canada for funding, rather than having its funding flow through the Union of Ontario Indians. These are ongoing negotiations, and we will update the membership when we are successful.

Some of the courses put on by AETS over the last few years include the following:
