The Economic Development Intern will play a supportive and collaborative role, working closely with coordinators and contributing to a wide range of projects to ultimately support the community in working toward achieving economic independence. The role supports ongoing economic development activities, research new funding opportunities, develop resources and monitor strategies. This position offers hands-on experience in community-focused economic development that supports BNA’s long-term goals and priorities.

Economic Development Assistant (Summer Student)

Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek is seeking to hire one (1) Economic Development Assistant (Student) to support
operations at our 292 Court Street office. The Economic Development Assistant will report directly to the
Director of Economic Development and will work under their supervision, with overall accountability to Chief
and Council. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in
economic development initiatives, community planning, and administrative support within a First Nation
governance environment. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work at either of Bingwi
Neyaashi Anishinaabek’s office locations, as operational needs require. Occasional travel to the land and
community sites may also be expected as part of the project work and engagement activities. All applicants
must be between the ages of 15 and 30 inclusive at the start of employment.

Sawmill Worker

Papasay Value Added Wood Products (PVAWP) is a First Nation-owned sawmill operating on the lands of Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek (BNA), approximately 50km North of Nipigon, Ontario. PVAWP has been in operation since 2017 and is currently upgrading its equipment and undergoing a significant expansion. Training Agreement (ISETA) to support the Indigenous Skills and Employment Strategy between Service Canada and the Anishinabek. You are sincere in your passion to assist in the development of a skilled Indigenous workforce, through the provision of individual and community-based employment and training initiatives. You have demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service skills and excel at embracing diversity while establishing rapport with jobseeker and employer clients. This project focuses on the integration of activities to ensure resources are utilized most efficiently to achieve the expected outcomes of an IESD to enhance Indigenous client pathways to employment. Ideally, you have previous experience in the delivery of Labour Market programs and services including jobseeker collaborative supports as well as being proficient in using Microsoft Office products. Under the direction of the Operation Manager and supervised by the Co-ordinator, the incumbent will provide administrative and operational support as well as be assigned specific project responsibility related to collaborations in the Northwest catchment area for inclusion of Indigenous perspectives within the ISED model – https://www.aets.org/iesd

Statistics Canada will conduct the next census in May 2026 and is hiring for approximately 32,000 census jobs across Canada. Census workers play a vital role in helping to collect high-quality demographic, social and economic data to help provide an accurate statistical portrait of the country. 

These data inform decisions about child care and education services, health care, public transportation, housing, community planning, and a wide range of programs that support Canadians.

A variety of supervisory and non-supervisory opportunities are available between March 2026 and July 2026, depending on the position and location.

To be considered for a job, applicants must:

  • have reached the age of majority in their current province or territory of residence
  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or possess a valid work permit
  • reside in Canada and have a Canadian home address.

Pay is $25.87 per hour for enumerators (non-supervisory positions) and $31.32 per hour for crew leaders (supervisory positions), plus authorized expenses.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of Census Workers:

·         The primary responsibility of enumerators is to go door to door to collect census information.

·         The primary responsibilities of crew leaders are to lead and supervise an assistant and a team of enumerators. They are responsible for all activities related to the collection of census questionnaires in their assigned area.
