Custom Election Law

Having a strong, comprehensive Election Code is critical to the backbone of a community. BNA has a custom Election Code, so it controls its own elections outside of the process set out by ISC. This includes the terms of the community leadership: BNA has 4-year terms for Chief and Council.

In March 2022, BNA re-ratified its Election Code, which will now be referred to as the community’s “Election Law”. It is providing clarity for the dates involved in the election process and streamlines various sections of the previous Election Code.

The BNA team was complacent with their final proposed amendments and sent out ratification voting packages to the membership. Members were also given the open to vote online and BNA’s new Election Law was approved by the BNA membership in a special election on March 30th, 2022.
